Check your eligibility

Here’s how to verify your current Kaspersky license is eligible for a free update.

Checking your eligibility is this simple:

  • Open your Kaspersky application on any device.
  • Visit the licensing section for Kaspersky Anti-Virus.
  • If you see “License: X days remaining” (where X is a number), your license is current and you’re eligible for this free update. If you see “License expired” your protection has ended and you’re not eligible.

Easiest way to check if you are eligible:

  • If you purchased Kaspersky Anti-Virus from a retail store and have not yet activated it, then you are eligible for a free update.
  • If you have already installed and activated Kaspersky Anti-Virus, then check the licensing section.
  • If you see “License: X days remaining” (where X is a number), your license is current and you’re eligible for this free update. If you see “License expired” your protection has ended and you’re not eligible.

This is the 20-digit number that you received after you purchased your current Kaspersky product. It may have been sent to you via email (for digital purchases) or can be found on the box (for retail store purchases). Please note this is not your license key. The difference between these two codes is explained in our FAQ below. If you can’t find your activation code, please contact Kaspersky support and provide your license key.

All the questions you may have on updating to Kaspersky Standard

To do this, open the Kaspersky application and visit the program’s Licensing section. From there you can copy the licence key. Alternatively, you can visit my.kaspersky.com and click on the “Subscriptions” tab. Select the Kaspersky program in question, then click on the “Additional info” block where you’ll find the licence key.

Once you have your licence key copied, visit your Renewal Center and enter the licence key into the input field. If it says "You have X days remaining" (where X is a number), congratulations! You are eligible for a free update.

Activation codes are either sent to you via email after you purchase any Kaspersky product online or they are printed on a card or on the product box if you bought the product from an offline retail outlet.

You receive an activation code when you buy a license for a Kaspersky application. It consists of 20 numerical digits and is divided into blocks in the following way: ХХХХХ-ХХХХХ-ХХХХХ-ХХХХХ. The code is only used for activating the license.

A license key is a sequence of 32 Latin characters and numerical digits in the format ХХХХХXXX-ХХХХ-ХХХХ-ХХХХ-XXXXXXXXXXXX. The license key is needed to recover a lost activation code or to renew the license at a discount. You can find the key in the Licensing window after activating your Kaspersky application.

How your subscription works

Your subscription will automatically renew each term until you cancel it. To ensure uninterrupted protection, we will attempt to charge your payment method 15 days before your subscription ends. We will notify you about your upcoming auto-renewal via email.

Renewal prices may change. We will notify you of the renewal price for your subscription via email prior to the renewal date. Please note, discounts and offers may be available at the time of your next renewal that are not applicable to you.

You can cancel the auto-renewal of your subscription at any time.

If you cancel, you will have full protection until the end of the already paid term. After this date, your subscription will end, and you will not be charged for any subsequent periods.

You can cancel your subscription through your My Kaspersky account. To cancel:

  • Log in to my.kaspersky.com
  • Go to your subscription page
  • Click Manage Subscription
  • Select Cancel Subscription and follow the steps to confirm cancellation

You can also cancel auto-renewal by contacting Kaspersky Customer Support.

If you’ve already been charged for the next subscription term, you have 30 days from the billing date to request a full refund of the renewal payment.
